After several regulation changes for the 2025 Formula 1 season, the 20 drivers will surely bring us an action-packed 24 races. Some notable stars to look out for next season are Max Verstappen and Mclaren Racing, earning the drivers championship and constructors championship respectively. Driver team swaps and new faces will present an unknown as to who will really bring home the points and standings. Here’s our list as to who has the greatest potential this season:
Lando Norris
Max Verstappen
Charles Leclerc
Oscar Piastri
Lewis Hamilton
George Russel
Fernando Alonso
Liam Lawson
Kimi Antonelli
Carlos Sainz
Alex Albon
Yuki Tsunoda
Pierre Gasly
Lance Stroll
Nico Hulkenberg
Oliver Bearman
Esteban Ocon
Isack Hadjar
Jack Doohan
Gabriel Bortoleto
Mclaren Mercedes:
Although Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have stirred up some drama over the “Papaya Rules” last year, they seem to stay competitive this season against Red Bull Racing and last year’s main rival Ferrari.
Ferrari:
After a shocking team switch from Lewis Hamilton in the beginning of last year, fans were shocked at what the duo including prominent Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc could achieve. However, it might be a little difficult for Hamilton to adjust to the new Ferrari car, after being in the Mercedes franchise for over a decade.
Red Bull Racing Honda RBPT:
Although missing out on the Constructors Championship last year to Mclaren, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will definitely be pushing for his fifth consecutive drivers championship. Due to Sergio Perez, former F1 driver for 12 years, lacking performance last year placing only eighth in the drivers championship, rising Red Bull Junior Liam Lawson was given a shot in the most coveted F1 seat. Let’s see how Liam Lawson will put up to the pressure that Verstappen shows.
Mercedes:
Lewis Hamilton’s shocking departure of the team saw Kimi Antonelli get a shot in F1, an up and coming Italian driver. An Italian driver replacing a British driver who left for an Italian team is quite ironic. Anyways, this gives George Russel a chance to lead the most successful F1 team in the hybrid era.
Aston Martin Aramco Mercedes:
Acquiring engineer and aerodynamicist Adrian Newey was Aston Martin’s largest headline last year. With quite possibly the best engineer on your team, it's hard for veteran Fernando Alonso and driver Lance Stroll to not edge into the points.
Alpine Renault:
After a disappointing start last year, Alpine managed to stun the crowd with a double podium at Sao Paulo. Pierre Gasly obtained his fifth F1 podium last year, and critics see a high potential for his performance this season. Jack Doohan’s sudden appearance at the Abu Dhabi race last year gave promising looks for the Aussie.
Haas Ferrari:
The crowd are certainly excited to see how Oliver Bearman will perform after securing a full time seat at Haas. Esteban Ocon’s appearance at Haas is very unpredictable. Hopefully the French pushes Haas past their amazing run last year.
RB Honda RBPT:
Many are sad to see Yuki Tsunoda not being promoted to Red Bull Racing, but his presence at RB will solidify him as the number one driver. Keep an eye on rookie Isack Hadjar, especially after his amazing post-season testing with Red Bull.
Williams Mercedes:
Carlos Sainz now lines up with Alex Albon to lead the British team to some promising points this year. This is a team to really look into for the season, as two seasoned drivers take up the challenges of the other teams.
Kick Sauber Ferrari:
Kick Sauber now has a brand new driver lineup after dropping both Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Gaunyu. Nico Hulkenberg will now compete in his 12th Formula 1 season. Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto will fight the German to bring Sauber out of its crippling season in 2024.
